982 Re-power questions
Hi guys, I just recently acquired a Kohler Command 25hp out of a Cub zero turn to hopefully put in my 982, I was wondering what you guys that have done the command swaps, used for the PTO clutch and drive-shaft adapter??? I'm new to the commands so go easy on me, Thanks alot

Nobody has done this? Was thinking of using the 2000 driveshaft??

driveshaft adaptor shouldnt be to hard to find MWSC sells all kinds of stuff for them. i believe Sam has made some adaptors for the 2000 series shafts for the supers. epay always has driveshaft stuff also unless that commands crankshaft sits too high in chassis i would think your swap will be easy... you will also need the proper muffler which if that engine is physically the same size as the 18 horse ones im sure you can find a muffler used also

Here is the 782 thread I did. I used the 2000 shaft. The engine adapter came with the shaft I bought. The trans adapter was one Sam had made. I haven't put a PTO on yet since this is my plow tractor. I used an 1863/4 muffler. |
Just curious, what model zero turn has a horizontal shaft engine? :bigthink:

Best way to re-power a 982 with a CH would be to get the drive shaft, motor plate and exhaust system from an 2084 or 2284. You'll need to drill and tap the pump input shaft for the bolt that holds the pump adapter onto the pump shaft.

Awesome, thanks guys appreciate the insight, when I get goin on this thing ill post some pics!
