Cub 982

Going to look at a cub 982 today that doesn't run. It doesn't have 3 point or rear PTO I was curious was it would be worth. The sheet metal is good and the tractor is complete other then the pump is bad. It also has a mower deck. And also how hard would it be to put 3 point and PTO on it? Thanks

Keep in mind that a 982 has the Super pump so that could get expensive. Putting a rear PTO on it is not all that hard if you can find one but they are very big $$$ and you'll need the Factory or the Ruegg 3 point.

When I got mine here are some of the comments.

Here is some of what I went through on mine

What deck does it have? Does it have front hydraulics and turning brakes? Those are the only options I can think of outside of the rear hitch and PTO that you already said it does not have. I'm assuming it still has the Onan power plant. Love mine, but I've got a few issues to work out with it. By the way, parts for an Onan are expensive and there are far less vendors. If something major goes wrong, a lot of folks repower with something else, even if they are skilled enough to fix the engine.

Regarding the deck, if it is a 60" made by Haban, they are all pretty much the same with a few variations. The one on my 982 is badged a model 60C. The successor was 2 or 3 diff models of essentially the same deck labeled 3XX. Mine actually does not have front gauge wheels like the one under my 2072.

Good luck with a value, its location will pretty much dictate that. Around here if you want a Super, you're going to have to hunt to find one and then pay pretty good when you do. Not running and a bad pump, I'd be very conservative on price.
