plugin hole in tire???

I picked three of these Carlisle 26x12-12 four ply tires up yesterday for $30. Two of them have a pretty good size hole in them. A pencil will fit in the holes. I want to put them on my 982. If I plug them will they hold fluid? Will a patch on the inside work, I have heard of boot patches. Or should I just plug them and use an inner tube to hold the fluid?
Also, the tread on these is half inch, how worn are they? I have never owned any AG tires for a GT so I don't know the tread depth on a new set. They look good other than the holes. One other question on filling the tires. It seems to me that if you use a tube that the sweat or condinsation from the tube would rust the rims, any merit to that idea?

They make a combination plug and patch if you can find one. If not I thing I would put a boot in.

I'd plug it, boot it, and then put a tube in it. I don't think I'd worry about condensation.

How about the tread? What depth are new treads?
