Cub Cadet Original Frames
 

Hey Ya'll,

I wanted to ask a question about the frames on the Cub Cadet Originals. I have found and bought three different Cub Originals throughout Missouri and every one of them has had cracks where the transmission meets the frame, around the top two main bolt holes. Is there a fix for this and is this just a week point in the Cub Original? Curious! The cracks are really hard to see until you remove the old paint for restoration.

Common problem. Weld it up!

I've heard about this and have seen pictures of many. Luckily none of my three have them. Is it normally on one side versus the other or both?

I've had 13 Originals and the frame was cracked in that very place on probably half of them. As Jonathan said weld it up. I would just grind both sides of the crack into a "v" and weld both sides then grind off smooth.

Mine is but you have to look real close, next time its apart I'll add a couple gussets. Its not just common... its OEM. ;)

One of the reasons they changed the design after the O's. Weld it, grind it, gusset it on the inside and be done with the problem.
