Saying goodbye to a good machine:
5 Attachment(s)
I don't sell cubs. I buy them. I keep them. Mine are not for sale. Oh, I might sell some parts every now and again, but not my tractors. If I don't want one, I don't buy it. If I do, then I want it. I have several waiting their turn to become a running member of my fleet.
That said, I gave my bro a tractor. (Younger bro. I'm the oldest of 5. He is #3) My brother is in the USAF and has been more than a big help to me in more ways than I can count. I did sell (ok, traded to him) a 1517 that I had gotten in a trade a couple years ago. I didn't want it (no use for a LT) so we made a deal. Well..... something on the motor went Ka-put second time he went to use it. He decided to replace it with a brand new Husqvarna small GT. I tried to get him to just buy an older cub, but he didn't want a "problem child". Well.... he hated the husky. So, we talked last year and I agreed to give him my 125, CC42 blower, a 42" blade, 42" deck and a #1A tiller with one extension. I figured, what they hey, he's given me so much. He didn't have room for everything, and I didn't have the "summer" equipment ready, so he took the tractor, blade, thrower, and 2 sets of tires and headed home today. I just hope that it gives him the great service it did to me. :beerchug: Attachment 60216 Went through the blower and it got all new bolts, bearings and seals. Painted the rotor, but didn't paint the rest of it. Figured it would look silly painted up for the needing paint 125. (I can start another thread on the thrower rebuild if anyone is interested.) Attachment 60220Attachment 60217 Attachment 60218Attachment 60219 Oh, and he brought back the 1517, so I'm going to have to do something with it..... :bash2: Fix it, or part it out. :bigthink: |
This is an awesome story. Way to be a great brother. IMO you gave him one of the best if not the best CC you could give a guy. 125s are great; grew up on one and used it for 20 some years. I don't have a cub that I don't need or use either.
My brother bought me a bike for Christmas a couple of years ago- same sort of deal. I know the feeling and it's something I'll never forget. Your brother likely will too. |
Good Man JB. Keep it in the family. :beerchug::beerchug::beerchug:

That's a cool story J. Is he a member on here yet?

Thanks guys! He's a good bro!

I do have a bro on here tho, FlyingB. (#2 bro) :beerchug: Under edit: Didn't mean to make it sound like my other bro's aren't just as "near and dear" to me because they are. But Lance has just helped me in ways that gave good cause to my gift. Plus, he left to go to the AF at 18 and has lived away ever since. The other boys hung around a little longer. |
Cool story Jon! It's good to hear that you were able to help your brother out like that. I'm sure that 125 will give him years of service! A lot longer than any newer garden tractor would.

It always sucks getting rid of a machine but it's makes up for it when you know it goes to a good home, especially a good home in the family. Good on ya, John :beerchug:

This was only the second CC that I have ever gotten rid of (not counting the LT he brought back, I never wanted it). Only other was the first one I ever bought, 13 or 14 years ago, a 127. I'll have another one someday. Wish I didn't trade it off because looking back, it was in great condition. I'll be hard pressed to find one that nice for the same price I paid for it. |
The way I see it, I do not really own any of my cubs, I just borrow them from my heirs! You just passed it on and if he is not happy, then you get first shot at getting it back. I hope he will be happy with it, considering that is as much as one could want with one (aside from the hydraulic lift). Here is to family and friends helping each other out...:beerchug:

Yeah, I told him if he didn't like the machine I'd gladly take it back. :biggrin2: His big question at first was why I wanted to get rid of it. I told him "I don't! but I want to give it to you". It was the only NF I have that runs, so it only made sense to throw in all the attachments. I think he'll really like it. To family! :beerchug: |
