Are these painted or powder coated?
Never seen such cwappy paint that just peels off...

Yep, thats crappy MTD powder coat. I'm in the process of doing a 3K deck that has the same issue. I soaked all the small parts it in my electrolysis tank and blew 90% of the powder coat off with compressed air.

Yep it would have cost a couple dollars more to have properly prepped the metal before they coated it. :beatdeadhorse:

Thought so,I have seen 50 yr old cubs in better shape paint wise than what is offered now..

Some Cyclops seem to be pretty well coated and others just seem to be rust buckets.

Musta been done during the week,Most of the problems are where the edge's are,and where there are holes stamped in the frames.

The Super I have now has (knock on wood) very good paint on it, practically no rust. Then I've had an 1863 that looks like it was being held together by the paint. I'm starting to think it's 70% owner care, 30% what day of the week it was painted.

Quick fix, take one of the flakes to Home Cheapo or Blows, have them match the color, get a QT of high gloss latex, a brush and your good to go. Should be as good as factory. Maybe I've had enough Chivas for today, good night guys. :biggrin2: :beer2: :beerchug:
