282 hydro year ?
 

I found a 282 hydro serial #350031u070682 model #132 282 399 can any one tell me if idt is a 1980 owned by ih or a ccc 1982 model. :bash2: when looking at serial #s it only says hydro on 1980 but gives no #s. 1983gives #s but says gear drive :angry: can anyone help me?

If the Tag says International Harvester on it, it's IH. If it says Cub Cadet corporation, it's a CCC-built tractor. I'm guess that because it has that 9-digit model number code it's CCC built.

Jeff K, Matt G: the give-a-way here is the CCC factory code:

132 = Lawn tractor (13) made in 1982(2).

282 = model number

399 = sold by an IH dealer (399 is the MTD code for products made for IH) (100 is the MTD code for products sold by a CCC dealer)

Because it was sold by IH it also includes the IH Kind/Code/Serial number info which you see as : 350031U070682 - 35 = Cadet LT, 0031 = factory code for a 282 , U = made in a US plant, 070682 = the one-up serial number.

Jeff K: Your 282 is a Cadet not a Cub Cadet. While there is lots of info for Cub Cadets, you'l just have to ask where the Cadets are concerned. Some of us do have good reference materials in our libraries on the Cadets.

The information about serial numbers, dates of manufacture and factory codes, etc., apply to both Cadet Lawn Tractors and Cub Cadet Garden Tractors. There is also one for the later MTD/Cub Cadet made units. Maybe Admin can post the IH Kind/Code charts, the CCC equivalent, and the MTD/CC chart for the members use in a new General Information page (Hint, Hint). IIRC, Roland should have those.
