1512 diesel not running right. Fixed
My cub was running great but the other day.....
Symptoms..... Bogging down, stall while operating, start right back up, stall after a few minutes of running, skip so to speak just before dieing again, any added throdle would kill it faster, inconsistent run times before stalling, sight glass fuel filter was not filling all the way. What I did to trouble shoot..... Pulled fuel return out of the top of the tank NO FUEL CIRCULATION. I KNOW IT IS A FUEL PROBLEM. Drained fuel tank, filled with fresh fuel. Pulled fuel line off before electric pump had good flow. Pulled fuel line off after electric pump had what I thought was weak flow replaced electric fuel pump did not fix my problem. Bled fuel lines again not it. Fixed problem... Removed fuel line before high pressure pump, bad fuel flow there but clean filters. Turned out the fuel shut off on the sight glass filter was not turning on all the way even though the lever was making the full quarter turn. I noticed it didn't have any resistance while turning the lever, I turned it to on and rapped on it with a wrench a few times problem solved. I just wanted to share my story. |
Nice troubleshooting Tacosteelersman

Good fix, glad it wasn't something big.:beerchug:

It's just one of those things that is out of the ordinary, figured why not share it.

Just goes to show that sledge hammer maintenance really does work on occasion.

Lol. That's too funny sledge hammer maintence. I am waiting on a new sight glass filter body.

Since this post I have installed a new sight glass filter housing, and the 1512 runs great. I would suggest to you to remove the fuel line in various spots including before your electric pump, after the pump with key forward, and after the housing. Fuel blockage can occure anywhere along the line. A dark pic for u. This is the new housing next to the old one that can be seen on the right. One of the first things I noticed about the new housing is the shut off valve is being held in place by straps. Looks like a better set up to me.
