"A" stamp on a k241?

Hey guys,
I have a cub 108 with a k241A 10hp in it. I am new to this but I removed the head and the block and piston was stamped with an "A" on it. Does this mean that the engine has never been rebuilt? It seems to have decent power but the piston does have a little play in it. I am still learning all this stuff :bigthink:

Thanks!

Somebody with more engine experience (J-Mech perhaps) will come along shortly and confirm, but I think that's correct. Any replacement piston will be stamped .010, .020 or.030. My 108 with the K241A had an "A" on the original piston.

Well...... it's not supposed to be tight.

Do you feel a "ridge" at the top of the cylinder?

I don't believe it had a ridge. I guess I was assuming that by now it would need one and that it should be tight. Thanks for the info :)

If you don't feel a ridge, the bore looks in decent shape, it's not using oil or knocking you are probably fine.

Not probably. It's fine.

When I rebuilt my k301 I didn't find much of a ridge at the top of the cylinder, but found one at the bottom of the cylinder.
