A NON-Original !!!

Went out and picked up my next mower. I've got a mating pair of Originals, so I guess it's time to start looking at other species. :biggrin2:

My brother bought this one to do up, but decided against it. I paid him what he had in it. Engine turns over free, clutch works and came with a deck.

Now the details. The deck is roached out bad. If I could get the sheet metal part and swap over all the cast parts, I'd be good to go. It has a plastic seat on it (125?). It's got lights (front/rear) and fenders. Oh yeah, and an auxiliary fuel tank! :bash2:

Now, I'm thinking that this is an early 70? It has a key and a starter button (so at least I'll know how to start it), and the engine was swapped out for a K301a. Don't know if it runs yet. Will have to try that later.

Serial number is on the rearend and reads - 173545. Now, there's possibly a 3 in front of that number (or a really creative scratch).

So, does anyone know for sure what I have here?

Here's the serial number plate

And try not to be too impressed! Oh, don't work on it with more than 1/2 a tank of fuel! :biggrin2:

And that seat is going to leave as soon as I can find a different one.

I had to move the other ones out to bring it home so, I figured it was time for a family photo.

You have from what I can tell is a 100, judging by the engine size. Unless someone can decipher the serial # and tell you it's a 70, I'm going with 100. The seat was one that was used on the 102/122 series. The fuel tank looks non-cub related. Looks like it has potential to me.

I've never seen a 70/100 with the tag on the rear end like that and the shifter looks incorrect, I'd bet the rear end is from a newer tractor.

I see 173545, Nov-Dec 1966. 71?:bigthink:

I'm thinking a 70 with that steering wheel but it has the wrong seat and different rear.....maybe?

The front end and frame is definitely a 70/100 but the rear end must be out of a 1x2

I'm not sure what it is, but you should check your oil BEFORE you fill the tank.:biggrin2:
