Playing/working on the 149

So I got this 149 around a year and a half ago. The hood and front cast piece had been replace from one off a 129 without the headlights. The wires were still intact, just had wire nuts on them. So, I bought a headlight panel from olds on here because.......well, I really wanted the headlights back.
Since I've had this tractor it had a leak from the rear end. So I decided, why not fix it now???? Can hardly see the hydro or check valves. I'm assuming it's coming from the valves or the cork gasket. It leaks from the front of the rear end, but it's so dirty can't really tell. It does leak fairly heavily, so I'm thinking the gasket. I'll pressure wash it soon to try to narrow it down . Here's a few pics from tonight.

I need to play and work on my 1211 too. It has a small leak in the rear somewhere , drips down beneath the rear end . Need to power wash it off and fig out where exactly where it coming from, not looking foreward to pulling the fenders off! And am working on putting my k301 back together, I'm almost there!

I think I'm approaching the same place you are... I need to replace my hydro oil and filter but I think I want to remove the fenders and power wash all the grime off first.

That looks like my 129-simply a huge blob of old fluid and dirt. I had to pressure wash mine again once removed from the tractor. Hard to tell where it might have leaked-so far I've replaced the axle seals and seals on the input shaft. Planning on the cork seal while it is out.

Wow, that's a leaker. Looks like your valves for starters. If you haven't washed it yet, I'd suggest newspaper underneath and a paint stick to knock it down some. Your wife might appreciate not blasting that against the side of the house! :D

I agree, valves are definitely leaking. Can they leak really bad? When I would drive it on pavement, there would be a drop about every 3 feet. So I would say that's a pretty bad leak.

I've got a 149.... I just drained the rear end out and it filled about 3/4 of a ice cream bucket... Same issue as you're having, valves look nasty on the top, etc... have you found somewhere to get valves from yet?:bigthink:

This is the go to guy from what I have read on here.

I haven't washed it yet. Looks like it's dripping from the return line. I think that's what it is. Where the it goes into the rear end.

Looks like it's the week for leaking valves. The 2182 I just picked up is leaking from both valves. Talked to Mark at Machtech today and I'm sending him 4 valves to do for me, he has done about 6 sets for me so far and not one problem. If you look at the pic you can see the oil leaking out of the valve on the right side. The second pic is the before I pressure washed this pig. Guess it's fall or winter time fix the problems so we will be ready come warm weather. :beerchug:
