Can someone tell me how I can Hotwire so I can get this started up.
I do not have an ignition switch on it and I don't want to put a toggle and button. Just want to see if it will start. Also battery is dead but I do have a charger. Someone please help me out

Run a jumper wire from the positive terminal on the batt to the positive terminal on the coil, that should give you spark. Start it by using a wire from the + on the batt to the outside terminal on the starter/ generator.

When starting do I use the + wire that is connected to the solenoid? Or a separate jumper wire?

I use a separate wire straight from the batt to the starter.

If this helps, here's what I do in this situation.

I have a jump pack with a pair of clamps, but you can do the same thing with a battery and jumper cables. Attach a small wire to the positive clamp by whatever method you want(screw terminal, wrap bare wire around it, whatever)--about 3 or 4 feet long, 14g or 16g is good. Attach the neg clamp to a good ground on the tractor.

Attach the small wire to the +terminal on the coil.

Then just touch the + clamp to the large terminal on the starter momentarily to start. Remove to let it run.

The small + wire on the coil and the ground clamp is all you need to keep it running. Hope that makes sense.

Would a battery charger work with this as well?
I assume yes but I've never done this before

will the battery hold a charge?

Post #2 answered all questions AFAIC. Only thing I would have said different is use a jumper cable to run to the S/G and not a wire. Just because you know a jumper cable is a big enough wire, and it already has cool "alligator" ends that are easy to attach. Sure, you can use a battery charger (If you have a big enough one. Gonna need about 200A.), or a battery out of a car, or just the car sitting next to the cub. It's really, really easy. It needs voltage to the coil all the time to run, and you have to spin the starter. Simple as that.

Ended up taking the battery out of my truck and using that.
It worked and engine turned but now I have another question. Can you tighten starter belt? Starter is moving but not the belt.

Yes there should be a bolt through the starter gen ear that you can loosen and at the bottom which should allow you to take the slack out of the belt. If it won't remove the slack you'll need a new belt.

One other question: Are you sure the motor isn't stuck?
