A load of stone (15 ton I believe it was) thats going under a shed. Had to get pushed around and smoothed out to make about 15ft x 25ft pad. A pretty good workout for the 149 (stone is heavy!)

Looking good. Yes I would not fill that huge bucket and try to do anything with it. That is one big bucket.

Good way to bust an axle.

Well I will say it looks great yeeter. I'm liking the loader and wish I had one.

snoel 10-16-2014 11:25 PM

Yeah, I'd like to have a loader too. But, not on my 149. I have a blade and plow, and that's great. but ... no loader. :bigthink:

I hope that stone was cheap, it's full of leaves! :biggrin2:

I bet a half full bucket was a handful to steer, that is a big bucket! Looks like it was fun, nice work. :beerchug:

Very nice set up! I am setting up a loader also on a 149, just for reference how much weight do you have on the back of your 149?

Yes, its a big bucket! Good for light stuff, and by no means does it get filled full with stone (the thing about a bigger bucket is that you dont have to fill it!). Its what came with the tractor.

And to be clear, this isnt the type of setup you would want if you were using a loader a lot to get real work done. But having said that, its a heck of a lot cheaper than a heavier/newer Kubota or the likes (several thou). And as 'toys' go, a fun one. (heck, useful just to lift/load things into the back of the pickup, etc).

I have only had it since earlier this year, so am keen to see how it does with moving snow around. I will say there is some 'twist' to the loader structure when some weight in it. The PO put some guides on each side of the front grill housing, to take out some of this side to side motion. It was a good idea (although I dont like the looks, functionally more robust). And it has larger spindles in front. Maybe some day I will beef up the front axle, but for now I am going to run it and if it breaks will just replace the axle (happen to have a spare already).

As for weight. PO put what I think are Farmall front wheel weights on the rear rims. Then the box on back is half full of concrete and then the rest filled with auto tire weights (pic below). Its pretty dang heavy (and a fair bit on the axles). Maybe 80lbs on the wheel weights and another 175-200ish?? on the back?

Someday I will tear it all down and restore, but not right now. Other projects are first in line so in the meantime Im running it. I have to say, it runs GREAT and I like it better than the 1650 I had previous.
