Difference in plows?
 

i've heard their is a difference between a NF plow and an original plow. is this true? if so, what is different about it?
lastly, if the above statement is true, what is involved in making a NF fit an O??

Well, there are two sizes - 42" and 54".

Then there is Non-Spring Trip and Spring Trip mechanisms.

Then there is the Sub-Frames
* CCO bolt on
* NF bolt on
* NF QA (Quick Attach)
* WF QA (Quick Attach)

The Cub Cadet Original used a 42" Non-Spring Trip blade that bolted on. Unique and hard to find. I don't have any knowledge, if a "NF bolt on" will mount to a CCO without drilling any holes.

thats fantastic information, thank you. so i will be having a difficult finding the plow that actually goes to an O, and it will be much easier to find a NF plow which should bolt right up

This is the orginal Front Blade for the CCO...

Some of the later ones were spring trip. They had a sleigh runner shaped curved subframe.

Roland, I believe there are 2 blades for the original. One was a none trip and one that had a trip. The first pic you posted is the original not trip subframe and plow. I believe parts 17 and 19 bolted to the tractor and parts 13 and 19 were the subframe. This plow is more rare and is pretty worthless for actually pushing snow. The second pic you posted is the second plow subframe that takes a standard 42" spring trip blade. I have one of those for my O and it works great.

Technically, yes. I read it though as a general statement because in the same post you said O blades were only non trip. I believe ihcadetcollecter read it the same way so he mention the later O blade. I was meaning that O blades can be trip or non trip. The first diagram you posted is the non trip blade and subframe, totally unique. The second pic is the "sleigh runner" subframe that takes a regular trip blade, but is still made for the O. Just trying to add some info for the op. :beerchug:

I have seen O trip blades for sale, just not often. I don't know how hard it woudl be to put a NF blade on an O, but I'm sure it can be done with som fab work.
