Fuel Tank from 782D and SGT, the same?
Hi,
after some Problems with the KT 17 Engine of my 782, i purchased a 1772 SGT Diesel. It have the Kubota D-600 Diesel Engine. Now i want to make the Diesel into my 782. The Problem is the Fuel Tank of the 1772, i'm not sure but it looks, the Fuel Tank is higher and will not fit into the 782, because the SGTs Fender area is higher. Does someone know this Problem? Found this in ebay, will fit this Tank into my 782? http://www.ebay.de/itm/111430178735?...84.m1423.l2649 The 1772 SGT have a bad Hydro, the Power Steering is not Working, i want to make the Kohler KT 17 in it and sell it. The Diesel is running yery good, but need a new Wiring Job. Thanks, mfg Georg |
Not sure if it will fit or not. I checked parts tree and the 782D and the 1772 have different part numbers for the fuel tanks.

The 782D has a fitting on the top of the tank to accept the host for return fuel flow from the injectors. My 1772 does not have the port on the top of the tank. I don't know how the return fuel flow is plumbed on the 1772.

I'll have to go out and eyeball one of the supers and one of the garden tractor tanks and see the difference on return lines. Never paid attention before.
Georg, On the engine in the 1772, it should be a D640 from the factory. The 782D, 882, 1512, and 1572 had a D600. The 1772 and 1782 had the D640. :beerchug: |
The supers return on the bottom. I'm not sure if it will fit the 782. I know the sgt's had a larger tunnel for the rear pto but I never compared the two. I don't think the one from the 1605 would fit and you would need to plug off the pick up because I'm thinking it would hit the rear. What's wrong with the super pump Georg?

Georg, the steering leaking and not working sounded like a thread I read recently on this forum. Here is a link to it. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...hlight=leaking
In the case of this one, the previous owner I guess swapped 2 hydraulic lines which caused no pressure on the lines that were supposed to be pressurized and pressure on some lines that weren't meant to hold pressure. You may want to check to see if everything is hooked up correctly. It may be the case of a line connected to the wrong port. Once the lines were put back to where they were supposed to be, the steering started working. |
