129 progress

Well, I've gotten the front tires on, new wheel bearings, new tie rod ends, and bought some side closing panels off ePay. Brake pads are at the re-line guy's place. Got the steering box remounted with new EZ steer setup...I found some missing bolts in the transaxle, and two are broken off in there. Found the head and about 1/4" of shoulder of one hidin' in the old gunk below the brake rod... Should be fun...Got both rear wheels off one tire dismounted, been trying to disassemble the PTO clutch.
Anyways, to the question=the boss has this old wide frame cub cadet, I'm guessing it's an 86 as it is an 8hp-will any wide frame deck work on a wide frame? He said he would sell me the deck as he uses it to spray only. I know I need the hanger setup with the deck.

Decks are interchangable. Just get the mule drive, subframe, and deck. Should be good to go. Get the belt if he has it. Everything is the same on both tractor.

Cool, I should have a deck shortly, then. Will help with the dirty looks from the spousal unit when I paypal stuff.

Well, I've got the front end back on the ground with new almost everything, got re-lined brake pads, added a new muffler, de-carboned the head/cylinder, it was very, very clean inside, no noticeable wear, and very little carbon. I've scraped about a 3lb coffee can's full of crud off the transaxle, gonna pressure wash it all this weekend while the fenders/hood are off. Got some stuff coming off of ePay, found a guy who has old cub stuff in town, another guy offered up a older Sears sleeve hitch, I've been drooling over the rear AGs down at TSC for $99, got Jeff building a driveshaft...

Maybe gambling would be cheaper? I'm not very good at that though...if my wife figgers out how much I've spent on it lately...

Will a 1250 hydraulic lift setup work on the 129? My pump is ported.

My tablet died last week so no pics yet. It actually looks worse than when I got it as it is all disassembled. Today I pressure washed everything, almost got the hydro out, ran a new battery cable, assembled the hood/grille/headlights, ran the engine so I can re-torque the head.

Sounds like you have been busy but,...:TTWWP:

I'll get some pics up when I can score a new tablet or maybe I can get my boy to use his fancy talking telephone to put some pics on here. Got the head re-torqued and axle seals rounded up.
I bought the hyd lift stuff from a 1250, looks like it all should work at first glance. Seems in excellent shape and the seller plugged all the connections when removed. I'll need a handle and mount for the lift valve, but everything else is there as far as I can tell.

If you get that 86 I'd go with a 38" deck, 42" would be the max because anything bigger is really gonna work that 8hp engine.

I drove the 129 out of the shop last nite about 9PM, Lurch seems to be gone but Creep is still there at times, saw no leaks, nothing leaking under it this AM. Sure is nice to have all that spinny stuff all solid and not floppin around-new shaft from Jeff, new fan and rag joint, built a bolt for the rear flange to replace the spirol pin, had Mark machine the hydro engine hub, and bought a much better used rear flange. Replaced axle seals, pump seals front and back, and cork gasket, welded up and shimmed up trunnion. I put in studs for the rear wheels, wow that made things easier. Got brakes now too. Got some pics if I can just figger out how to get them off the phone and onto here.
