1450 dipstick

I need to replace the dipstick because the one I got is not the correct one. The PO said he lost it in furry of getting it ready to sale. The auction where I picked this one up sold about 6 different IH CC's.

The model number on the engine appears to read K321AQS. I found this one ebay and was curious if this looks like the correct one:

IF...you are interested in getting the correct dipstick, then you will have to supply us the the Kohler "Spec Number" that is on the model tag of your engine.

I was barely able to get the model number. Any chance there is a sn lookup page?

I'm not really sure what you mean..... You need a serial number to look up a specific motor.

According to CC, there are 2 different dipsticks depending on chassis serial number. IF the engine is original, you can go by tractor serial number. If you aren't sure, look at the parts page. Two different styles of dipsticks, you can tell the difference just by looking. http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...&dn=0024800002

Hmmmm, its getting confusing now. The dipstick I have now resembles part number 78 and would be the correct one according to the tractor serial number since my last six are 608161.

Ill take pictures of the one I have tonight and post them.

Should be a part # on the dipstick.
Drain the oil and add the correct amount, then check the oil level and remark the stick to that point if need be.

Looks like the one I put on my k321. The one that was on it before mounted n the same place but was at an angle and would not allow me to put the side panel on my 1200. I would put it on and change the oil filling it to the correct level then check where it's at on the dipstick.

I don't think that the dipstick fits the tube.......

How can he re-mark it if it doesn't work with the tube? :bigthink:
He needs a different dipstick.

It measures the same as the one on my k321. The tube and top of the dipstick look like the one in my k301. Here's mine in my k321

Brian,

I'm not sure your understanding. That or I'm somehow lost.......

The link that the OP posted to; he doesn't know if that is the correct one or not. Yes, the dipsticks are the same length, but look at the way that the top of the dipstick is made. There are two different designs. They are not interchangeable.

To the OP:
By the serial number of your machine, it should take the dipstick reference #78. It's really simple. If the dipstick tube goes into the top corner of the crankcase housing, that reference number is correct. You will need to find dipstick ref #78, part number KH-47-038-05. OR, if the dipstick tube attaches to the side of the crankcase you need dipstick ref #164, part number KH-47-038-04. Post some pics of what you have if you aren't sure and we will be able to tell.
