Barn find
1 Attachment(s)
Went to look at a disabled cub, a 125 sitting next to it. Only 3 mile from home so brought them both back. Owner said he got tired of the 125 throwing the belt each time he raised the deck and parked it several years back.
Got the sticky old gas out and the carb cleaned, will change the oil and see if it will fire. It appears to have a mule drive for a tiller since it has two adjustment bolts and not a spring on the one side. And it is terribly out of adjustment and maybe the wrong belt. Will check that out. Do I need to get a mower mule drive or will the tiller one work if adjusted? Attachment 56392 Have not got to do much work to it yet. Don't know the condition of the engine, time will tell. |

Just find this part, and the spring. IH Mule Drive Idler ratchet PN/ IH-59690 C2 USE IH-59690-C3
Fits 44 44A 50 50A Mule drives Attachment 56394 |
I'd get the spring and put it back the way its supposed to be. The reason for the spring is to auto adjust the belt tension to allow you to move the deck up and down, the 2 bolt setup won't self adjust and is probably 99% of the reason it throws the belt.

My 100 has the same mile drive setup without the spring on it and it never throws the belt. Just be sure to use the 3/8" CC belt. A lot of people use an "A" width belt which is too wide to fit down into the pulleys deep enough.

OK, on all response. Will get it running and try it with proper belt. Thanks for all the responses.

It runs good, but a bit of a loose spark plug. Should I put a spark plug repair kit in it before using it?
Now on to the mower belt/drive issue. |
New idler pulley, straightened the pulley holder shaft, proper belt, greased and worked like a charm.
|
What did you do about the spark plug?
