Man that hood vibrates!

So now that I finally have my 108 running I find no better way to relax after a long day but to do a few victory laps around the property :beer2: Always fun to be known as "that crazy tractor neighbor" HAHAHAHA! Anyway, when I throttle her up the thing (manly the hood) vibrates like crazy! I have to get that nice trim work that goes on the section of the hood that lays on top the dash. Is this normal? I'm checking the engine mounting bolts and they all seem tight. Nothing seems to be wiggling all over the place. My 127 has these clips that hold the hood down and my 73 seems to have these little widgets (I have no idea what to call them) that the hood locks onto to stay down. The 108 just has this little spring type thing that really does not pull the hood down but more locks it from opening up. So the big questions would be, is this normal to have the hood vibrate so much and can I do something to lock it down? Right now without the trim work it's really loud when it rattles.

Under the hood on the dash there should be a piece that held on by 2 bolts, it should be adjusted up enough that the hood is resting on it and not the dash. I also put black door edge guard on the piece which makes the hood fit snug and eliminates 99% vibration your hearing.

Any chance you can post a pick of how you placed that edge stuff? I was thinking of getting that edge stuff from Kirk's Engines. Amazon also sells it and it looks like it might help but I'm interested in what you did because even that edge stuff can only help so much. This thing moves! :)

Here's a pic. If the hoods resting on this and the hold downs are tight you should be pretty good.

The rubber covers on those flanges are all worn off mine. Before I start trying things is this something still available?

Not sure I understand your question. The rubber your seeing in the pic is the door edge guard, you can get it at any parts store.

No problem

You got a single cylinder Kohler. Those things make any cub shake rattle and roll. Hope you can get it tightened down.
