105 & 125 need a little work
6 Attachment(s)
New to Cub Cadets, I picked up a couple of Cubs after seeing what kind of work horses they are. I couldn't find anything else reasonable to do what I need done. I have a JD 100 and it just won't do. My buddy and I pull logs out of the woods with our jigger we made and I cracked the rear on the JD:bash2:. JD will only mow grass from now on. I only went for the 105 :biggrin2:, but the fella said "on your way out you can have that 12hp engine laying in the stickers over there, it's froze up and I'll junk it anyway". I says OK and threw it on the trailer. Then he says "You can have that 125 frame in the weeds", so we threw that on the trailer too. It will take me a while, but I will revive these guys, cause I can use them (plow snow and pull logs, use my lifter for logs ) and I hate to see such fine machinery go to waste. It is a shame what some people do to these tractors. I :bigthink: I have my work cut out for me. I had to get the K301 bored .030 over to get the rust out, but it looks pretty now.

Glad to have you over on the cub side:beerchug:
Great work, and good to see a couple more saved to work again... |
Thanks Todd. I know the people here will help if (or when :biggrin2:) I run into problems. I hope to have the engine finished this weekend (almost done, just need the time to get to it).

Wow, it's great to see someone going to such lengths to bring an old 125 back to life. Once it's up and running you won't be sorry.
Both the 105 and the 125 will be great workers. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. |

Thanks. I did a lot of research on these Cubs on this site and elsewhere (couple friends have one) and I see what they can do and how they are built. I will post more pics as I progress. |
Congrats on the cubs and good to see a few more being saved!:beer2:

I love my 105. I had the chance to buy a 127 also but. decided on the 105 instead. be sure to service the hydro soon after you get it going. mine still had the original cub cadet filter when I pulled it out of the woods.

Crazy muffler setup on the 105 but it looks decent over all. There's some money in that seat too, very nice. It always amazes me how they can clean up after all those years and run new again with some tlc, that's the fun of it. Good luck on them and keep the pics and updates coming.

I plan on servicing both hydros, drain fluid, change filter, open rear cover to inspect and fill with Hytran. That crazy muffler on the 105, gotta go. Don't know what they were thinking when they put that on there. The seat on the 105 is in real good shape, but the seat on the 125 is very poor, has sheet metal on the bottom holding it together:crap:.

Here's an update on the K301 for the 125. Almost done, but other people are finding things for me to do. By the way, I'M RETIRED. Hahaha:bigeyes:
