1450 not starting
Hi guys- I accidentally posted this in the other forum- I think this is the right spot for it!
Hi guys, I am happy to have found this forum! My family has a 1974 Cub Cadet 1450 that has been running great for years. The last time I used it, there was no problem with it. The other day I went to start it & pushed down the brake pedal & a piece of metal came out (about 1/2 the size of a credit card) and fell on the ground. I turned the key & there was no cranking or clicking or anything. I don't know if this piece of metal is a coincidence or not, but I'm thinking maybe the pedal safety switch could be broken? Any thoughts? Thanks! |
It is probably the "flapper" that engages the Neutral Safety Switch that engages when the Brake Pedal is depressed.
For "temporary or testing" purposes, you can jumper this switch out. You will need to order CC932-3000 Spring, switch. |
OK, thank you very much. I took it apart last night and was a bit puzzled by how the brake shaft triggers a switch and how that small piece of metal came into play. After a while of poking around, I thought maybe another piece fell out that I didn't see- I was right. On the mower deck, there was a longer metal piece that also broke off.
I found the switch and pushed it and it fired right up. Now I just need to order the metal piece and attach it to the brake shaft. Thanks for your help! |
Now a silly question- where do you guys go for parts?

For used parts try the sponsors at the top of the page Patton acres is good.

First, see your local CC Dealer. Next, the sponsors at the top of the page will be glad to help you. Then there is always numerous online & auction sites.
