More charging power????
well its me again i have gotten a parts tractor that was in mid restore but is in worse body shape than mine so im swamping drive-train over but, i have also upgrade lighting on my light bar for the winter and tractor itself was wondering about a mod i saw on you tube about adding another alternator where the clutch and engine meet on that pulley but am stumped on how to do so!!!

here is pics of the new and improved light bar!!

With the extra power would also need an upgrade in the wiring to handle the extra amperage. The wiring on your average CC, is rated only for 15A.

You should probably list what model you have. In case electrical math is not your language, that is 180-200 watts. The K-series engines all had 15 amp charging circuits (I think you can get more out of the s/g ones, but I wouldn't swear to it) So, if you are pulling that full 15 amps, you are not going to be able to recharge your battery, and will very likely shorten the life of your stator and regulator due to the constant full load. Offhand I would guess your lightbar as shown is around 130 watts (55-watts for each of the lights and 20 watts for the beacon) Throw in the standard lighting and you are up to a total of roughly 210 watts. To my knowledge no one has found a higher amp stator for the k-series, but you can look into the dynamos they use on kubotas. For self contained alternators you can look into compact alternators and you can get those to at least 65 amps. Just make sure you will be turning the correct direction. Alternators will develop the same amount of power spun either way, but the will not cool properly if spun the wrong way. No, you cannot change the direction of the fan, it is internal, and there is no way to flip it.

If you did get that extra power off the engine could you just run the light bar off of that? Then no wiring issues and you could still have your main headlights work normal so you have light when the engine is not running.

well heres the deal i have 2 more 55 w lights on the hood but those or prob going to disappear when the new hood shows up and to 12 volt clearance lights in place of the reflectors and no factory lights in the grill but want to see if i could just make a mount for alternator to just charge the battery??

Drop to 35 watt bulbs and you can run 6 lights. Or 4 and a beacon.

switch to all led lighting and don't worry about it. leds don't draw nearly as much power.

I don't disagree, just sayn..... |
all bring up good points but just thought of something if i out another battery in the box under the seat is there a way to charge both with the starter gen or add a another charger for just that one battery
