Need a little help

I'm going to look at a cub cadet diesel. Need help to ID. Ad in the paper said cub cadet 3 cyl. diesel, 60" deck, 3 point rear PTO, front hydraulic. When I called about it, seller could give no more information. What are the possible model #'s that it could be and what problems do I need to watch for. Wasn't going to mess with looking at it until seller stated that there is a front end loader for it and that who ever buys the cub has first shot at it.. Also, Were any manual transmissions or were they all hyrostatics?

Has to be a super with a 60" deck. I can only think of the 1772 and the 1782. All supers were gear drive. There were no gear drive diesels offered by Cub Cadet.

The Cub Cadets with a D600 3 Cyl Kubuta Diesel are:

* 782D
* 882
* 1512
* 1572

with a D640 Diesel:

* 1772
* 1782

From what the ad says, with it having a 60" deck and rear PTO, it is a : 1572, 1772, or a 1782. Hope you get it and the loader!:beerchug:

Oh, to avoid confusion with the post J-Mech made ( I know you meant to say all supers were Hydro drive :) ) The tractor your asking about will be hydrostatic.

Well Thursday I drove 75 miles to look at it, even took the trailer along. I still don't know what model # it is as the hood, side panels and grill are missing along with the model and serial # tag.
The bad,
It runs but needed starting fluid every time you start it
Hydro was sluggish and slow to respond
Tires went flat within 15 minutes after you aired them up
and hood, grill, and side panels missing
The real bad
He want's $2K for it and will not take anything less. He wouldn't show me the loader because I didn't buy the cub.
I did leave him an offer and my phone #. I will be surprised if he calls me

Hmmm, first off if the guy didn't know you NEVER use either to start it that's a bad sign. 2: He won't move on a high price of a tractor that's missing the body panels( the missing body parts indicates to me its probably a 1782), hardly moves and the tires go flat, that's a bad sign. 3: Won't even show you the loader?!? Not even in hopes to get you to buy? He wants you to buy the cub and then shows you a junk loader from a old ford 8n that he thinks will fit the cub, lol. That's just what I see happening, it's good you just left a offer and walked away.

Good thing you passed. Had to be a 1572, 1772, or 1782 since it is a super diesel with all these a fore mentioned options. Radiator in front or back of engine? Front 1572, 1772. Back 1782. Any cyclops options, tilt steer, rounded fender pan with separate foot treads would make it a 1782. All hydro supers. I guess someone coulda frankensteined something together from a bunch of parts, too. Sounds pretty rough for the price. Rear PTO and three point worth about $900-1000. Now if the loader were included for the asking price, it may have been worth looking further into. :bigthink: :biggrin2:
