149 bracket for what???

I have this bracket on the end of my right Axel housing where it bolts to the diff. Does anyone know what this is for or an idea of what it could have been used for?

It doesn't look familiar, might be a homemade job.

Hmm, the two open holes do not look big enough to mount or support anything heavy. Maybe they has a return spring on it at one time? Maybe a backup light mount? TB

IH rear back blade had a spring and bracket on the each side like that one.

Thanks guys.. So it very well could it have had a rearblade at one time? I looked at the other side and there was a hole in the same place where the bracket is bolted in...

there should be a bolt in that hole.
