149 odd engine oil leak!!

i have a 1972 149 that runs like a champ. its up at our cabin where i do work on peoples yard with it.. i go up every weekend. i went home on Sunday then cam back on Friday 2 weeks ago and when i came back i found a dead batter cause someone (me) left the key on so i charged her up and then i noticed that by the under the coil on the frame there was a wet spot that look to have dust and grass clippings etc on it so i though o on just some gas from the gas valve from the last time i ran it. so then i was cutting a yard the next day and it got worse so i stopped to look at it and i saw oil dripping down the coil and the top of the coil was wet. also i have the battery charged to all that i could get it to take which is i believe was 95% but when i run the engine at wot the charge meter goes goes way up and then i idle it down it goes to normal and at about quarter throttle the meter goes to up half way to the charging side... is that a problem?

Leaving the key on caused the coil to get hot and either boil the oil out of it or it weakened the seal enough that when the oil gets warm and expands it runs out.

Yes. That should fix it.

Yes, you need a new coil. I'd quit using it. If it gets too hot and shorts out, it could burn up the points, thus adding more expense. If it hasn't already.
