When did the CUB CADET GO TO WIDE FRAME?
Title says it all. Any info. would be helpful. Thanks, Tom
That would be around 1972 (Sept. 1972 I think) with the 86, 108, 109, 128, 129, 149 tractors (the 169 came a little later). Up till then there was the Original and the narrow frames.

IH started production on the Wide Frame series in September of 1971 with the 86, 108, 109, 128, 129, 149, 169 model tractors. That series ended in September of 1974 and IH started production on the Quiet Line series in October of 1974.
Some of the other fellas here may have some actual production dates, but without taking the time to look it up, I'm not exactly sure what they are. This will get you really close though. |
I believe that would have been in Sept. of 1971 ....... someone else should back me up or correct me to be positive.
My mistake, T-Mo, is exactly right. The 169's did come along some time after production started on the others.
They went to the wideframe because of the bigger 14 horse Kohler engines. On the 147, they notched the frame out for the blower housing of the engine, but they made the frame bigger on the 1X8 and 1X9 series.
ccrider's correct, sept 71'.
The 169 started in March of '74 and ended in October of '74..
