Starter solenoid?

:Morning: Has anyone had this happen to a starter solenoid. When trying to jump across the battery connection to the starter connection nothing happens. As in will not engage solenoid. This is a 4 post soleniod. I have checked the solenoid and it checks OK. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions, they will be appreicated. Thank you for your time. :American Flag 1:

If its four post, are you sure your picking the "S" terminal and not the "I"?

If you cant jump it and make it work, I'm not really sure how you would have tested it to verify its good? :bigthink:

:biggrin2: MM OHMS setting, check to ensure that that the battery lug and the starter lug are open. Apply 12vdc to I post and ground the ground post. Should be closed. When doing this check you can hear the soleniod engaging and un-engaging. This check is straight out of my electrical systems book. This solenoid checks out OK> :American Flag 1:

If it's clicking and not putting power out the starter terminal, this solenoid's internal contacts are burned/corroded. Replace it.

He's right, mine would click all day long but not start the tractor because the contacts inside were burnt.

Apply 12vdc to I post and ground
The correct terminal to check to see of the solenoid coil is good, is the "S" terminal to ground.

I didn't catch that..... He did say he tried the "I" terminal. :bigthink: At least you were paying attention. :beerchug:

Better double check it before replacement then!!
