Modified Haban sickle mower

A little update to the 1641 with the Haban 402-E sickle bar mower. Some of you may remember that I picked up a Haban 402-E a while ago with the 149 that I bought. I adapted it to fit the 1641, something it was never designed to fit. Used a mule drive frame I had kicking around with a couple pieces of flat bar stock to bolt to the front of the Haban. I extended the tube for the rear mount, still need to finish that up but that’s a simple deal. Then while looking at some pics during a Google search I noticed one that had been setup with hydraulics to raise and lower the bar. Cool we have a new project! I hooked up the mower deck lift to raise and lower the whole thing, fabed up a mount for the winch, welded it in and mounted a Harbor freight 2000 LB winch to raise and lower the bar. The winch was $50.00, going hydraulic would have been $200-$300.00. Thing works sweet. Now I just need to finish up the wiring and do a little trimming on the front mount. Sure beats the Armstrong lift that these things come with. :beerchug:

Sam,

Nice work. I hope you get some videos of you running it with the power lift.

I've kinda been keeping my eye out for a sickle mower and noticed this:

Any ideas how hard it would be to put that on a 2072? I know you didn't put it on a super but you did mount one on a tractor that wasn't designed for it. This price seems a bit high but i've not seen many come up for sale. Also I can't figure out what the differences between an 402D and 402E are?

Thanks,
-Levi

I was hoping to see the Sickle Bar modified to be a hedge trimmer :biggrin2:, but was not disappointed to see your mod. Great job engineering that Sam!! Looks like your haul that day was a day well spent, providing new projects and idea for you. Glad you got it set up nicely.
