Missing Part on my 800?
 

Hi,

I posted last year about the 800 I saved from a trip to the dump-- was thinking of selling it then, but now planning to keep it for a little while. It's amazing how well it's built compared to my new lawn tractor.

Anyway, I have a question about whether a part is missing on it where the hood meets the dash. When closed, the hood is now resting on the fiberglass dash and is starting to break it. It kind of looks like there was some part bolted on there that the hood would latch to.

Is there supposed to be a part there? If so, how would I get one?

I have seen some of those hood configurations on ebay. My 1200 hood has a metal bracket bolted to it that looks like it helps hold it down once the hood is closed. Mine was missing the upper grill piece when I got it, I have since bought the upper grill part but have not put it back together to see exactly how that bracket is supposed to work. For all I know, mine does not have the correct bracket on it either. There should be some pictures of what it should look like on the net. Thanks, TB

there should be a piece bolted to the dash tower that the hood rests against

Thank you, I thought something was missing. I found two "hood supports" on ebay, one for a 147, one for a 127. Would either of those work? Does it have to be from a quiet line or will any others work?

not sure that those will work but one from an 8 series and up should do just fine
