My sad 1450
I bought this 1450 to have at my recently purchased house, my wife and I now have 3.5 acres and I need something to pull a garden cart around. I wanted an older tractor and this cub fit the bill. Its in awful shape and after I have done some reading on the QL tractors I see that it is missing everthing that made it quiet and the motor mounts are nearly gone. It does run and runs well, hydro even works fine. I live in Lancaster Ohio so I'm in the backyard of Chris Westfall's Cub Classics, I imagine he and I will become friends soon enough.

Pto clutch is missing parts. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...4515B5851F.jpg After looking at hundreds of images of mower decks and reading most everthing I can find. I don't really know what the heck I was given here. The mower deck is junk and the spindles are locked. I figured I would take it in the off chance I may need a piece from this mess. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...E3D8C57732.jpg |
I've saved worse than that. May be a diamond in the rough. :beerchug:

You'll get her fixed up as good as new.
How wide is the deck? |
I'm not certain on the deck width but it has the wooden roller and small outer blades.
|
Good luck with the 1450! It will be a great machine for you, once it's fixed up! :beerchug:

Ugly don't count, if it will run and go. Even though, I like pretty!

It looks like a 38a mower. That small metallic riveted on plate next to the non-discharge side blade spindle should give you the model & serial numbers.

I see a diamond in there too. Someone liked Fords! As far as the deck, that is an older style more intended for use on the narrow frame tractors such as the 127, etc. See the pic below, which is a more fitting 50" deck. It's unlikely you'll need anything off the old deck, but someone with an older Cub may want it. You should be able to find a newer one on CL in your part of the world.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think "Quiet" Lines were all that quiet to begin with. http://www.ihcubcadet.com/forum/messages/106/30110.jpg |
Not sad at all... another cub saved from a life of neglect!

I have seen far worse! Just needs work. There were a lot if people who abused them.first thing I would get a new air filter before runing it. Looks like the right deck hanger and mule drive but no pulleys . The deck does look like a 38a. What you need is a 44" deck for a quietline or 82 series. You will also need a mule drive for a quietline. The muffler ain't the perfect situation I would look for a replacement that is correct. Side panels prob run $50 for a pair. Ask away if you have anymore questions an check out our sponsers for parts.
