Cub Cadet 100, blown head gasket
i noticed the head is black and sooty near the exhaust valve area on my 100.
i sanded the head on a piece of table glass and installed a new genuine kohler head gasket. the head on this 100 is one of those desirable high compression ones. i am assuming the engine needs to come out and apart and get rebuilt and the top of the block decked? is this something common? what is a fair price to have this work done? say deck the block, grind the valves and the seats, bore the cyl, and polish the crank. johncub7172 also gave me a nice looking k161 that needs rebuilding, and i have a k301 i want rebuilt if there is someone in this area here that does this type of work, otherwise i am going to ask the machine shop i use for automotive work about doing them for me. |
J-Mech set up a post that stated he was wanting to do just this very same thing. Having it done by a fellow member might be a bonus in the future in case you need information about it later and I think his prices are reasonable.....If you talk to him nicely, I think he charges two schillings and a monkey.:biggrin2:
PM Jonathan if you would like and see if he is set up to start doing this now. He said he had to work out a few details first. Cub Cadet 123 |
