Hi all,

I've been lurking for a while and have asked a couple questions and learned a great deal from this site. I was looking at cubs a while back, but found a JD 140 H3 before I found a cub. I stumbled upon this one by chance when talking to a former coworker. I picked it up yesterday, tractor, snow plow, snow thrower, and mower deck. I have some work to do, the S/G need attention, and it moves in forward, but not reverse. I checked the manual relief valves and they are in the proper position, anything else obvious to check? I'll do some more searching, but in the mean time here are some pictures. From what I've found this is a 1974 model, one of the last of the 129's. It has had a repaint before I got it, and looks decent from 20ft, but I'll do it proper as time and money allow.

Congratulations on a very nice 129 with some really handy attachments! Glad you have found helpful advice from some very knowledgeable members. As far as your hydrostatic transmission, my advice would be to first change the filter and check the fluid. However, my experience has told me that it is probably a stuck relief valve. Pull them and make inspect, making sure the steel ball is able to float freely in them and the seals are in good shape.

Congrats on the 129:beerchug:
I also would recommend checking the relief valves first. Easiest thing first. Then onto a new filter and fluid change. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'll pull the relief valves out again and have another look at them when time allows.
