The 782 is an awesome machine! If it's in nice condition, you'll enjoy it!

Agreed they are good machines but like anything else depends on what kind of care it had.

Series I engines didn't like hills.....although I think it would almost be unusual to even find a running series I anymore.

Front steering & axle clevis were loose on mine and had a leaky hydro relief valve, some rust, average paint, cracked taillight & a rusty deck & a well used 42" plow & I gave $800....looking back I think it was too much but I wanted a red 82 series with hydraulic lift.....so 782 was my only option. I've slowly been fixing it up but I love it.

I've seen VERY nice 1711s & 1811s around here since then in the $500-650 range- both were so nice that I kind of wish I had waited.....or maybe started my own fleet (that sounds better).

sweet. so does the blade raise and lower by hydraulics?

Yes it does.:beer2:

And they can have a 3point hitch. I've got one but it's a long way from Maryland. Its a heck of a package deal if you wanted one set up to work. Uship would probably move it for you pretty cheap

Hopefully this one pans out I had a buddy who had a 102 in awesome shape he wanted to sell me for 300 bucks and then changed his mind. So are these kinda the equivalent to a john deere 318?

A 782 is equivalent to a john Deere 317. I think they are both 17hp.

Actually aside from the horsepower they are more on par with a 314. They don't have turning brakes and only have single spool hydraulics. The 318 has power steering and two separate hydraulic spools. This means you can lift and angle a blade hydraulically. The 782 only has lift/lower function of the hydraulics
