Question about tires/gear ratios.
Has anyone installed 26x12x12 tires on a narrow frame hydro and was there any noticible difference in the amount of torque. Reason I am asking that is because I toasted the input shaft spline on my 1572 yesterday at the PA plow day. Had to get towed back to the trailer with head hanging rather low. Now to the nutz and boltz I have a cast rear end out of a narrow frame with a ported pump on it. I am thinking about putting that in the 1572 till I can get a splined ported pump to put back on the super rear. Or get that one rebuilt which ever comes first. What are everyones thoughts. :bigthink::bigthink:

I've never done it. But your going to lose some torque, and gain speed. I don't know how it would handle with a plow. :bigthink: I do know, that the GT rear end used a 66T bull gear, and the super used a 68T bull gear..... so. I don't know. Narrow frame tractors didn't have ported pumps.... :bigthink: Can't offer any advice this time. :crap:

Let me reprhrase I have a rear out of a 149 and a ported pump out of a 1450. Is the output shaft on the super pump and the 1450 pump the same teeth?

it probably stripped out the input because it was just about wore out. the tire's just hook you in better and you're in the torque of the engine more because you have traction so any worn part along the way becomes a casualty

The output shaft on a Super is different from a GT. Find a Super pump or replace the input shaft on your pump. |

allot of those stock pullers have work done to their rearends. more than you think. they also regear them accordingly.
like J-Meck stated one could probably guess that if you put a 1450 or 149 rear in it you will speed it up since they had 23 in tall rubber on them.,which for plowing isn't good, the manufacturers tend to keep garden tractor top speeds in a certain range. since 26x12x12 are larger they gear accordingly to make up for it |
