Finally the weather has broke and i made a lot of progress. the old Kolher is out and the clutch has been refitted to the new engine anf from the looks and measurements it will be a direct fit. except i have to notch the frame for the oil tubes.

Why are you replacing the engine there are plenty of the Kohler engines around, alive and still kickin'? Wish that you was closer, I have a 72 frame that is already cut on--hate to see original parts cut up and you may want to think twice about those Spirit of 76 fenders---I would think that there would be a good market for them just as they are!

Dear purists
:Announce: Ya'll with tons of money, worry bout restoring to original splender a cub of the 60's ! we are trying to build a working machine to do the work-a-day jobs at the young man's home ! the 7hp quit, last fall,we will save the 7hp/gas tank/ complete ,for my stock 73,that has a ten hp. in it now, can the make it pure for ya'll ! the condition of the tank is also suspect, the increase in horsepower is to help on the steep hill he must mow ! ( for U flat landers) besides I rescue cubs, ( this one from yo beloved Ind. ) I've rescued and owned as high as 36 or so tractors, in six short years , the young man works bea coup hrs. his wife also. he doesn't need to wait! spring time upstate NY don't last long gras don't wait !! also both are hard at work turning the older house they bought into a home ! fear not as in the long run it's a win win for us !:beatdeadhorse:

ok the weather has finally broke so i have made some progress. however the new engine sits to high and i have to think on my next step. i might make a cradle and drop the engine down 1/2 inch into the frame .

Thanks for the pics and update.

more progress today, thanks again to my unc ( e sarvey) the engine now lines up. i took out the two bolts that hold /center the shaft to the rear and it slid in. all i have to do is redrill the mount holes ,one more cleaence cut and new bolts and presto this might be running soon.

Tell us more about the engine. What brand, horse power, is it electric start, gasoline? I repowered a belt drive Ford (Jacobsen) with a harbor freight chinese clone, and I love it.
