K241 Piston question
1 Attachment(s)
hi guys,
My 9 year old son and I are rebuilding the k241 from our old Cub Cadet 109. In its' last days the engine had a lot of blow by and was smoking. It finally gave up the ghost and died a quiet death when I was mowing long grass up a fairly steep hill (just as I was thinking, 'wow, this thing is working great' and throttled up more...) We have the engine apart, and haven't had it to the machine shop yet for measurements. The bearings and crank seem fine, and nothing is broken, but the valves definitely need help and there is visible damage on the top / side of the piston. There is a nice ridge on the top of the cylinder, but again, no measurements yet. So my question, I have been searching around on here, and I must be blind, but I am looking for my piston size. There is an 'A' stamped on top, part number 235002. Does this indicate .010 over? I know Merk made reference to it in a post, if someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated! Thanks, Mark |
Are you sure that is an A or and arrow sign. It would have a .010 stamped on the top of the piston if it were oversize. It looks to me like it ran really lean on the air/fuel mixture for a long time. Or it had the wrong heat range spark plug.:bigthink:

hi, pretty darn sure its an 'A' but it is worn somewhat. Definately doesn't say STD, or 0.01, etc. I was hoping the 'A' meant something...
thanks the note back, Mark |
