Pulley puller
4 Attachment(s)
I made this funny PTO basket puller today out of an old drive shaft, some longer basket pulley set screws and a sledge hammer head. It worked fine. Alternated the puller from one screw to the other. I put the Allen head of the screws into the holes in case it broke off so I can get it out later. I may change the set screws to non hardened ones though.
Don't forget your safety glasses!!! Please comment if you please. |
Way to use your noggin Lew!:beer2:

I used the puller not my head!
BTW this was soaking for 2 days in PB so it kinda helped. |

I like KROIL better than PB or LW. Did you leave the PTO arm in place? I could make a piece for the driveshaft to slip over the threaded collar so the basket pulley would be driven straight off. I used a different approach to get my pulley off. I made a puller and drilled the pulley for 5/16-18NC ( "F" drill ) The spacing also works for removing the flywheel. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...h_DCP_4979.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...h_DCP_5319.jpg By using two longer bolts with 1/2" sockets, it makes a great PTO bearing puller :biggrin2: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...DCP_4967-1.jpg |

Yes it was Nick. Jeff, I would like to see if you can make a collar to fit over the part of the pulley that has the set screws, then drill 2 holes in it that would line up the the ones on the pulley, put a threaded end on the collar to fit on a real slide hammer.sorta something like that... There are different sizes of bushings on the pto baskets though,so you would have to get at least the two sizes I have seen. |
Good thinking Lew:beerchug:
So.... now if we want to make one, do we just get the drive shafts from Nick?:biggrin2: |
