2182 alternator conversion

The alternator on my 2182 is out. I was thinking of building a bracket of some sort and putting a full sized alt from a small car on there. I know I would have to get a bigger belt and could no longer use the side panel.

Has anyone ever done a conversion like this?

When the anemic alternator craps on my 2182 or 1782 it will get one of these

Yes, these Kubota alternators are quit small. Im still very happy with the conversion.

has anyone done this on a cyclops yet? I wanna know if it will clear the plastic without chopping it up?

Awesome. Turns out my problem was the bearings inside the alt. I replaced them and everything is running smooth again.

I would like to eventually do this conversion though.

I just did this on my 1782. It worked great and had room to spare. I'll try to post a short description with pics later this weekend.
