128 PTO Clutch Question
 

I have a model 128 that appears to have the pto clutch that came with the factory clutch brake. I noticed this from the style of thrust button, and comparing blueprints with the non-brake pto setup. I do not have ANY of the other brake parts for the clutch, and someone had once inserted a fiber wear button onto the rockshaft, where the brake disc would have been mounted. From what I can tell, all of the remaining clutch componets are the same for both styles. So my question is, can I replace the thrust button on the pto with a standard non-brake one, and press in a new wear button onto the rockshaft, and make it work? I already ordered a bronze button to install before I noticed the difference. I hope I explained everything clearly. Thank You.

You can replace the thrust button on your pto, but the rockshaft for brake and non brake pto's are different. Here's a link illustrating the differences. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ight=rockshaft
You should replace the rockshaft with the non brake pto rockshaft if you're gonna go with out the brake.

Once again a big thanks to Diz Jr. for helping answer this question, his pictures clearly illustrate the differences in rock shafts.

Should you decide to change to the "conventional" style pto, put an add in the wanted section here, surely a member here has one that they will part with for a reasonable price.

Thank you for your help. Looks like it wouldn't be too hard to remedy the rock shaft issue, even if it meant making a new wear button mount and welding it on.
