i got this 72 as a parts tractor for my beloved 70 that my grandpa purchest new in 64. after tearing it down one night with a buddys help and anhiser bush, i decided i just could not deprive the world of another cub. so i started to work on it and here we go another project to try to finnish before i die.
i have made good head way on it in the last 2 mounths considering the other projects im working on. other curent projects include reduing interior on a 17 foot boat, the motor, a four wheeler rebuild, 2 cubs , a large 7060 allis chambers farm tractor, and a few others cant remember. here are some pics we took and hope to finnish before spring. ill post more when its complete. trying to do it write, write down to the ih nuts and bolts. |

looks good cubby....great job.....can't wait to see more pics!!!!

Lookin' good Cubby! I find the best way to get projects done is to focus on finishing one project and neglect all others until it's done. Then reality sets in and I do a little on all of 'em and get very little done overall!:beerchug:
What are using for paint? (application and type?) It looks very nice. I've had my 70 tore down since June. The only real tasks I've got done were rebuilding the steering column and ordering a few parts. (steering wheel with cap & narrow rear rims) You look like you're coming into the home stretch. Looking forward to seeing it done! |
Great job, cubby! Glad you saved a cub. :beerchug:

Stand back and give the man space.......a great work is in progress!!! Looks good. I was hoping to get a 72 myself (my birth year) but instead I got a 73.....close enough for me and I'm glad to have it. Glad that you save another one (BECAUSE IT IS WORTH SAVING)!!! Carry on Cubby!!!!.....Now, to restore that Anheiser Busch (or at least replenish it):beerchug:

well made some more headway as can be seen here. starting to get back together. the painting is the biggest pain with this tractor because of the cold weather and its hard to keep the temp in shop above 60. alot of drafts in the shop and after painting i need to stay up all night to stoke up the wood furnace. cant do to much more until i get the parts i orderd from cc.
it'll all be whorth it when im done. |
paint
the paint im using is valspar tractor enamle from fleet farm. iv used others and this seems to be the best buy. after 30 days dry time its very durable and and is very close match.usally i let the tractors sit in the summer sun for as much as possible the first mounth and the paint will darken to a perrfect match. uslly will use a gun to paint but ff only has raddle cans this time of year, hope that anwsers your question on paint toyman.
