Reproduction 169 air cleaner

The search feature won't allow a search for 169 air cleaner, so I don't know if I am an innovator or copier, but here is my take on it. I thought it would look cool on my 123, so I made one. I used a noise suppression cleaner, off of a Case 2XX, that I found on eBay for cheap, a hat from a M20 that I parted, the wing nut from the 123, an expensive seal and cheap filter/pre filter kit from Kohler, a piece of all thread and a nut coupler, and a 2" hole saw. I don't think it would fool a judge, or is show quality, but it didn't cost much and I think it will look cool on my 123. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/a...1&d=1388121233

I forgot to include the Rustoleum marigold paint.

Looks great! But why the hole? I'm not that knowledgeable on the 169s so maybe the hole is supposed to be there?

Turned out great!:beer2:

As long your design keep dust+moisture out of the carb and look good, who care what the judges think?

Nice hot rod K301 link :-)

The K301 use many type of air cleaner as you can see on this schematic, yours look like number 18

Thanks guys. Brian Miller has a lot of info on the Kohlers, as well as Cub transmissions and garden tractor pulling stuff. I learned a lot reading through all of his tips and tricks. My plan is to build a nice little 16-17hp K301, with a K361 cam and rod, M12 head, porting and polishing, valve job, and #30 carb.

The hat is sealed to the base plate ( I think) thus the side holes are needed.

Tell the judges it is an experimental IH skunk works engineering prototype you found and restored.
