42" blade issues

when plowing my drive that is pretty step but kinda rounds off at the top I can't get enough droop out of the blade to keep it on the ground. I have a 122 with hydro lift. I'm thinking about trying to lengthening the rod but I don't want to hurt my total lift too much. I just need about a 1-2in more drop.

I've seen people use a steel cable with 2 U-bolts in place of the lift rod to allow more drop, but I would think that would allow the blade to "float" some of the time since the only down force would be the weight of the blade itself. I have never used a steel cable on a blade, but I have on a snow thrower (of course that is heavier) and never had any problems with it.

I'll give it a try, I have a blower but its a waste for our normal 2-4in

Did you try the adjustment procedure?

never seen that, I even searched for something like that. I guess I'll pull it out and put where I need the most droop and use that to figure out what length I need.

Ummm....is your locking knob fully released to allow maximum drop?
Maybe you have a float lockout pin on your hydro cylinder and don't realize it??
You should be able to manually (with some effort of course) pick the blade up when it is in the down position.

Just the 1st thoughts that crossed my mind to check.
