If it isn't one thing...

I'm sure many of you have seen the threads on some troubles with my machines I seem to have been having; the PTO dies on my 682 then comes back to life (well, for now), my 1050 has some foam in the oil (posting a thead in MTD/CCC subforum now on that), and a stripped out motor mount on my 1450. I need more time! :biggrin2:

Anywho, this time it's another 1450 problem. I fire it up the other night to move it and use it to jump another machine (don't ask :biggrin2:) and it moves forward just fine about 10 feet. I jump the other machine, and go to move the 1450 around and nothing. The hydro lever does nothing, and I have no hydraulic lift. So, long story short I push it where I need it. Then I start it last night and it works for a short minute then nothing again. :bash2: So, do you guys think there could be water in the hydro that froze up, or could it be my relief valves need cleaning? I plan to do a fluid/filter change on it but it's not on the top of my list right now with everything else going on. What do you guys think it could be? :bigthink:

I'd do the fluid/filter change sooner rather than later.

X2....preventative maintenance goes a long way! It sounds like something is possibly clogging the filter and not allowing fluid to circulate.

Check the spirol pins in the driveshaft. Sounds like one sheared and is "catching".

Had the same problem with the 129 I'm working on for a guy. Ended up being a clogged filter. Do a fluid and filter change should fix ya up

I would bet on the sheared drive pin, like Jonathan said.

Well, I got a few minutes to check the 1450 out and I don't believe it's a sheered pin. I ran the tractor for a minute and saw the drive shaft spinning the input shaft to the hydro so I believe I'm good there. Now I just have to get the time and money between work and Christmas to buy some Hy-tran and a gasket :biggrin2:

If you are close on time, you could just change the filter and see if that works. However, if there is a lot clogging it up, then you could possibly clog another filter up as well, but it might help you diagnose the problem a little faster.

when I pull the old filter off, won'tall of the transmission fluid come pouring out?

Edit: that would be about perfect if I could get away with that to get me by until spring. I've got enough hi Tran in the shop to top it off if I lose some but I don't have enough to do a full refill.

You will only loose a little that is in the filter and pump, the pump is higher than the fuid level.
