1450 Hydro reseal - info pls.
I have a spare hydro for my 1450 ... works great and pulls a plow etc. ... but it leaks hydro fluid. I've looked into gaskets and seals. They are available and not terribly expensive ... have a couple questions
*is a schematic / manual / instructions available to perform this * any services reasonable that perform a regasket / reseal out there thanks for pointing me in a good direction, Bryan |
You can do it yourself. The Cub service manual has good instructions for dis-assembly and re-assembly. All you need is a clean place to work, and a methodical approach so you don't get parts mixed up. You should repair the trunnion arm while you are at it. I just did this on my 1450. Some pics on my Frank-n-Tractor thread in the customized cub forum.

1450 hydro pump
Sawdust ,
tks for the info ... nice rebuild thread, years ago I rebuilt a couple auto transmissions ... many moons ago. This looks like a dooable to me. I saw this place for gaskets and seals .. where did you get yours from ? http://www.shankslawn.com/p/Hydro-Gear-Parts tks, Bryan pics of your rebuild reminded me of a year and a half ago. Great garden tractors...:beerchug: |
that looks like a good source, a little bit cheaper than partstree.com where I've bought some of my parts. Or try some of this forum's sponsors. CubClassics.com is a good source. My other major supplier is ccspecialties.org, but he had a fire and isn't back on line yet.

Down load the manual
http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4644 Find out what parts you need on Parts tree or the Cub parts site then try these guys for price. http://www.cubcadetpartsnmore.com/ Here are a couple threads I did on rebuilding the rears and pumps on these things. If I can do it anyone can do it. Just take your time and keep things CLEAN! http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=23229 spare rear rebuild http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=21261 fixing 2172 rear |

Had the seals and gaskets sitting on the bench for several weeks and yesterday opened the hydro up and cleaned it up. You folks are right ... really not too bad a job. For me driving the pins out of the variable plate took some patience .... would hate to drive it too far !
I've got it on the shelve for a spare now .... tks for the info , etc ! B. :beerchug: |
Glad you got it, Bryan!
