Traded up?

Well, did some trading over the weekend.
Took these to the local mower "junk yard" (or whatever you want to call it)..... Attachment 44001 And came home with this 71..... Attachment 44002Attachment 44003 The old man had used it for his "lot tractor" for the last 10 years or so. Honestly, for as rusty as it is, it's really not in bad shape! Not gonna lie, I got it for the 71 I'm restoring for Granddad. His didn't have lights and fenders, so now it will. Just for fun may see if I can get it running. Guy said it ran fine, he just parked it and started driving another tractor around. He has several that run that he drives around. I think he just likes to "switch it up" LOL. Honestly, I had to talk him into parting with it. Had to give him some cash to boot to get him to let it go! :biggrin2: Now, if you were looking carefully, you see what I first noticed about it..... The seat. Anyone ever seen one of these seats before? I'm assuming it's either a VERY well modified seat from something else/ PO mod. Or it was sold by a company just for a Cub Cadet. It bolts right to the original seat mount, and is made similar to ones I've seen on some M's, Olivers, and such. Any ideas? Attachment 44004 Oh, and it still has the cigarette lighter too! I have never seen a seat set up with a spring set up like that I like it. Looks like tow big pieces of rubber shock absorber... very neat design. I think it came from a big tractor by the looks... whatever it came off of or from I think it would be worth cleaning up/restoring and using it.

Great trade!!! It has some really good extras and some good "bones" to it. Let us know if you get it running. That one didn't belong in a junk yard anyway! A good bath and it will look even better.

Definitely looks like your son likes it! That was a nice move up, by the way. IH did not offer a seat like that. Got to love the classic round fender models!

Nice trade J-Mech

Thanks guys! I knew IH/Cub Cadet didn't make the seat, but thought maybe another company made seats, and offered one to fit the cub cadet. I am familiar with this style, just never seen one on a cub. I think you may be right cjrolke maybe from a Ford? I was thinking Oliver had a similar one on a 550, or Super 550. :bigthink: Can't remember....
I have got to get these cubs out of my shop. They are taking up too much room! LOL! Attachment 44027 I've got some other work I need to get done! FOR MONEY! LOL! Attachment 44028Attachment 44029 |
