Not CC but it was fun

This has nothing to do with cubs, but that it Jonathan (JMech) up in the tree. He must trust me cause I pulled him up there. We topped some of it and cut the rest down and had it in piles in about 6ish hours. Not bad for having old saws and only 2 of us. Could have done it faster but I had to leave about 3.5 hours in. But it was fun.

I have to admit, Philip (FlyingB) and I have cut down our share of trees. In the woods..... LOL. This was the first time we dropped one right next to a house, in town. I had never strapped climbers and went up to top one. I was a little nervous. Not of heights, but as you can see in one of the pics, I had cut off that limb below me and it splintered back under the limb..... I was standing on it. Figured out how to keep that from happening on the next one. Just cut it up form the bottom about a third of the way through, then cut it off from the top. Then it breaks nice and clean!
Anyway, I'd come do it for ya Eric..... but I'm not sure that you want to pay the mileage, LOL! Unless of coarse, we did some trading for some cubs! :bigthink: Overall, a day full of HARD work. I am a little sore today!! :beerchug: |

Some of these guys that climb trees and cut them are amazing. I had a climber do some work for me when I lived in CT. He had what looked like an over sized sling shot, he would fire a ball with a string up over the limb he wanted to get his rope over then pull the climbing rope up and over. After that he would climb to rope like a mountain climber. Fire up his chain saw and go at it. He could also work his way around the tree using the same method. Got a couple pics of him in action. Met him at the Cub/Stihl dealer in Newtown CT while I was picking up some parts.

That's cool! Did he do it on his own? Like, he pulled himself up? After doing this the other day, we (Phil and I) decided we might try and do this for "weekend work". Around here they are getting upwards of $1000 bucks to do what we did in a few hours!!
