finaly got my 1000 going finaly
 

Well I was laying in bed debating on buying a new clutch/ drive-shaft for the 1000 and it dawned on me that I had a lot of stuff in my junk drawer. Along with a u joint setup off another project. So I went out to the shed and started tinkering and this is what I came up with. Works perfect and less vibration then the flex disk. Also if I decide to get a new creeper for it I can bolt it right in!!! Clutch also works much better. Let me know what you think.

That should work for a while. I've heard that the JDs use u-joints on their driveshafts and they don't hold up long due to the constant hammering from a single cylinder engine.

Yea that's the plan eventualy I'm just hoping this will hold out till the snkw quits flying and then its getting a new shaft and all clutch hardware. Its just this is my only plow machine and I really don't have the spare 200 bucks to drop on a new clutch. Any issues you think I should be looking out for in the mean time. ?

Universal joints are speed/RPM rated. Being that that thing is right between your legs, I wouldn't use it unless I was sure that it was rated for the 3600 RPM. That looks to me like a joint from a farm store. Probably for a PTO shaft, which is NOT rated for that high of RPM. This is the reason why they used CV shafts of the newer style tractors. CV shafts can handle the R's. You should probably take that out.

Put the tunnel cover back on so if she blows apart for some reason while you are using it it doesn't end up in the wedding vegetables. :biggrin2: I would think it should work like this for a good long while.

This joint came out of a tractor that me and a buddy built awhile ago and turned way more rpms then this ever will. I won't be going much over idle with it until mowing season starts back up which by then ill have a new shaft in it. But thanks for the heads up j mech ill definatly be putting the cover back on also.
