Kohler aftermarket parts
 

I am rebuilding a kohler k241 for a 100 and see a lot of aftermarket parts out there for these engines. I usually go to the local tractor store and get the oem parts but they are expensive. Are the aftermarket rings, gaskets, seals, pistons, etc. worth the savings?

I'd stay with Kohler parts. I get some of my Kohler parts from a small engine guy down the road. I don't think he has to charge as much as major tractor places and such. Kohler parts may be a little more but chances are you'll be happier in the long run. Some aftermarket parts are excellent but they carry a price too.

This very topic has been hashed over a hundred times here and on other forums, some of the guys will swear one thing and others will swear the opposite. I think it depends on what you want out of it, how long you intend to keep it, and if the savings is worth the chance that you'll be doing it again sooner rather than later.

ive had pretty good luck getting oem kohler parts directly from kohler's website. or simply searching kohler engines in the google search engine.

i like seeing MADE IN USA on the insides of the k161. i'am going to stick with Kolher and cub cadet parts.after all, my 71 is pretty old, no shame here.:American Flag 1:
