1450 questions
 

Well I just bought a 1450 to add to the 129 and two 149's. I will be picking it up tomorrow and the seller wasn't sure of a lot of things but I do believe it has the front hydraulics on it. I sure hope so anyway!! That will make plowing snow even more fun than it already is. It appears to be complete but has carb troubles from what I was told. No big deal to me.

I have not paid a lot of attention to these tractors but I nave read posts on the motor mounts. Can someone fill me in on the problems and fixes for that? Otherwise the differences I am aware of are mainly the hydro lever being on the other side and cosmetics like the hood and side panels. The frame , driveline , and such is the same as the 129 and 149's right?

The frames are a little different where the motor sets Wide Frames are flat and Q/L's are angled at the bottom. The drive shafts are different. The engines are also a little different along with the Electrical and starting systems.

The Q/L's are know for having worn out motor mounts after 30 or so years, this causes the motor to set cattywompus and wear out the drive shaft and attaching parts, along with vibrating the bolts holding the engine to the mounting rails and eventually stripping the threads out of the holes in the oil pan or breaking the pan.

There is good news though... There is an engine cradle modification that can be made along with new motor mounts, that isn't too hard, and will eliminate many of the problems associated with the ISO system, then simply replace any parts that were damaged from running it with worn out mounts and you should be good for another 30+ years.

If I am correct there is a thread in the "Technical Library - Tractors" section on cradel repair that should be a big help to you.

I'm sure I missed a bunch of things but that should at least get you started.
