That's cool! But, how did you keep those axle tubes on with no bolts? :bigthink:

Apparently the axel housing are sealed that good! They have not had bolts in a while, and never leaked any lube. I even took a rubber mallet and hit all around the housing,..... nothing. I wanted to replace with bearing bushings, but the standard 72 wheel bushing in this trans are like bran new.

Thanks cubcadet!

Thanks Diz Jr. ! That was some mighty elbow grease to get the transmission down like that. So glad to see it in primer! There is still a lot to be said and done to this part, but at any rate I hope to have it in Cub Cadet Yellow before it gets too cold to paint outside.

On a side note, I did however manage { on my lunch break of course } to get to my local Cub Cadet dealer and ordered the following parts:

seal - oil...............{rear wheel seal}............................................. ....$7.03 x 2 = $14.06

IH 376216-R2........{reduction housing/trans block} gasket.............$11.81

IH 384725-R2........{reduction cover} gasket.................................$6.19

total=......$32.06

The Cub Cadet dealer is on my street, so for the sake of the sale I get my parts there. :biggrin2:

I use Martin Senour Cross/Fire sealer, then I went on to a self-etching gray primer of the same amount of paint coats. Thanks!
